The mistake

The shop's message component has error, warning and success variants, and the restyle maps all of them to the success style: a green background with a tick. Severity is carried by colour and icon as well as by the words, so a payment-failed or payment-pending notice now looks exactly like an order confirmation. Customers see the cue and never read the text. The proposed fix is worse, because rewriting the copy to match the styling makes the page tell customers outright that an unpaid order has gone through. The real fix is to restore the separate variants so an unfinished payment looks like an error again.
