Two and a bit tonnes
Dale wanted delivery priced by weight, so June fed the shop the warehouse's weights. They were in grams, and the shop charged £2,300 to post one table lamp.
The mistake
The shop's delivery pricing reads weight values straight from the warehouse system without checking the unit that system stores them in. The warehouse records weights in grams, while the pricing rule treats every incoming number as kilograms, so a 2,300 g table lamp is billed as a 2,300 kg one. Nothing validates the range either, so an absurd shipping weight passes through to checkout and is charged as a real order.
